Volume control doesn't work like iPhone headphones,
by Busy Dad, 2010-08-19

These aren't really iPhone-type headphones. Adjusting the volume is much more complicated with these headphones than with the Apple headphones that come with the iPhone. With these headphones, even if the headphone's volume slider is all the way up, it may not be loud enough unless you also use the buttons on the iPhone to raise the volume. Worse, if the headphone's slider is all the way down (and it easily slides by itself), you won't hear anything at all, which can be very confusing when placing or answering a call.

More details: Genuine Apple iPhone headphones have a rocker button for volume control, which adjusts the volume setting and indicator displayed on the iPhone...so no matter what the volume is, you can use the headset control to adjust it to maximum or minimum (which is still audible). These headphones have a slider volume control that is independent of the iPhone's volume...if it's all the way down, you won't hear anything...conversely, if your iPhone's volume isn't already loud enough, you can't raise the volume with the headphone's slider.

Includes various-sized attachments for a snug fit in your ear, but they can fall off and are easy to lose.

Overall, too much hassle and not worth the price.

Comfort and Joy,
by L Verdon, 2010-05-18

I just purchased these headphones at a marathon expo. I don't normally run with headphones for two reasons. The first reason is that I can never find a pair that will stay in my ears and be comfortable. The second reason is that I run on secondary roads so I need to be able to hear cars and other activity around me. These headphones resolve both of these issues. The distinct shape means that you don't have to jam the buds into your ear, they simply snuggle in and hang lightly. I wore them in the marathon and they never hurt my ears or fell out, even when I accidentally tugged on the cord while running. I've also used them since mowing the lawn, running on secondary roads, etc. You can hear approaching vehicles, people talking, and everything else going on around you. At the same time, the sound quality is excellent. My only complaint is that the little rings that come in different sizes to fit your ears will come off if you yank the bud out off your ear quickly. You don't need to do this since there is a volume control on the cord, but old habits die hard :)
