Don't Hesitate to Buy this,
by Rusty, 2010-07-29
I was debating on buying a less expensive MP3 player . This little guy is awesome great sound easy to load from Windows Media player and a steal at 31 dollars.
excellent audio player, ogg compatibility,
by N. Tung, 2010-07-28
Audio quality: I'm not an audiophile, but the output seems very good. I'm listening on PX100's. When my PX100 plug broke, and I was repairing it, but hadn't quite gotten things right (a few wires from the left channel hitting the right channel -- they are hard to repair), I noticed how the Clip+ reduced the distortion much much more than my laptop (Intel chipset). The slight background noise on my desktop (Intel HD audio) noticeable through my friend's Shure SRH440's was not noticeable on the Clip+.
Linux compatibility: The device mounts as a USB mass storage device, which is great. One has to set "MSC" mode for compatibility with the latest kernels (in System settings on the device).
Playback: The reason I bought the Clip+ was that Sansa added ogg and flac playback support. As far as I can tell, it's flawless. I have most things encoded in ogg q3 (the latest oggenc on Linux incorporates all AoTuV development, making for a very efficient / high quality encoder). It makes 2GB go a lot farther -- one can get about 40 hours of high quality audio stored.
Battery life is good -- I've never run out, but one does at times have to remember to charge it. It's probably better than a cell/smartphone, but worse than the Cowon iAudio 7.
The included earbuds are better than ipod, but eventually one will want to listen to something real :). It's harder to make a recommendation at this price point though, since the PX100 (originally $70, then $35 when I bought it) is no longer in production. Of course, I don't see anything wrong with getting a Grado/Sennheiser/Ultrasone/etc. . The amplification is probably not enough to drive higher-end headphones alone though. I usually have it slightly over 50% with my (pretty efficient) PX100's, and I'm not blasting anything very loud.
Last but not least, the price was fantastic, and the expandability definitely adds to the appeal.
Exactly what I wanted,
by Jay Allbritton, 2010-07-28
After years of using an Archos MP3 player, I decided to give this little guy a shot because it was so inexpensive. It surpassed my expectations in every way possible. The only drawback is the small size, but that's more than offset by the low price and the fact that expansion appears to be painless.
Great Little Gadget,
by B Guzzino, 2010-07-28
I've only had this for about a month or so, but it is GREAT. I bought an 8GB MicroSD card for it and it works wonderfully. The screen is very bright and clear even on the lowest brightness setting. Sound quality is excellent! Just a great little player!
Perfect for working out!,
by Bryangoestoschool, 2010-07-25
I have owned the SansaClip for the past 2 years and it has been fantastic.
My main reason for wanting an MP3 was to help me stay motivated while working out (basketball, weights, tennis, running ..). I had an IPOD 4gb model, the older ones when they only came in grey, but it died when after a month of use at the gym.
I thought long and hard about another IPOD, but durability and cost seemed to be its downfall. I researched other MP3's (non-mac) to see what was its competition.
I found the Sansa and am very satisfied. This thing has been sweated on, dropped, banged against weights....you name it and it takes it. Solid product and excellent bang for the buck. Even if you do break it, you wond break the bank trying to replace it vs an IPOD. I usually put on 7-8 albums and play on shuffle when i have the opportunity.
I hope I didn't make this sound like this MP3 is only for the gym. That was my original intent but I have been using it much more often like while reading, lawn work, and and everything else you are working independently on or dependently (If your that type)
I recommend skull candy ear buds to make this thing 'bumping' with super nice sound. My brother and dad both bought this same mp3 for their uses and they are loving it
