Sound Quality is not so good. Playlist option is not user friendly. We cannot add songs to the playlist as and when needed. Once created that's it. No options to alter the Playlist

Its a nice little unit. The touch screen works but the old button system was easier to use. The touch screen is a bit cumbersome. ie genre, add genre, back out to currently playing, press play. With the old system you scrolled down to the genre and pressed play.
With this model you have to clear out what you were listening to first. If you were listening to classic rock and want to switch to alternative then you would remove genre, back out to alternative, add genre then back out again to now playing.
I liked my old one better. The X-fi button does make a very noticeable improvement to the sound.
I'd recommend the product but I still miss my old one. Who ever found it on the airplane... enjoy. :(

Like in many reviews, I do agree that the touchscreen is the main issue of this player. I did do an immediate update of the firmware but still it is a bit touchy when you try to get around in the menu with your fingers. Now what I suggest is that one should just splurge 3 bucks on a universal ministylus that you can keep with your player, it makes everything a lot easier. No more fondling the player or going to the wrong places when you press your big fingers on the small screen, just buy a stylus. In my opinion, creative should have just issued the player with one standard.
As for the menu construction itself, it is reasonably intuitive. Everything can be readily found with just a few clicks, music can be found of course in genre, album, artist, pretty much any category as long as your ID3 tags are in order, if they are not, it's on you.
My main gripe is that I can not turn the volume up or down with just one or 2 actions, first you have to tap the screen to wake it, then get the "control bar" to show up (the one where you control play/pause/next/previous/etc) and click the speaker, only after that can you change the volume or mute it. This is not the smartest thing Creative designed, it would have been nice to just have 2 actual volume buttons on the player itself but I would have settled for a permanent volume control on the side of the screen that I could access as soon as I wake up the player.
Now the Sound quality is unrivaled, it beats my old Creative Zen and with the X-Fi on, it whoops its behind from here to there and back again. Yes, the X-Fi crystalizer is great, I have it on permanently, maybe it drains the battery, haven't noticed it too much but it makes my music sound even better.
The extras like the RSS feed with auto update, the couple of games and of course calendar, contacts and such are very nicely done. Did not have an issue updating those or syncing.
My final thought is that even though there are a few issues with the touchscreen being touchy, the sound quality more than makes up for that. Creative shows again that it knows sound and knows how to make an MP3 player but it does need to work on touchscreens. Overall still a great MP3 player.

This is my first mp3 player that isn't a cell phone and I love it. I love the sound quality, X-Fi is awsome and I love the equalizer. I am hearing things in songs I've been listenning to for over 20 years that I am noticing for the first time. I really like that the player is compatible with WMA format, I didn't want to convert all of my music into mp3 format, to me they sound to condensed and sometimes hollow and like the music is being played in a tin can, imo.
Creative Central kind of sucks and I agree with other reviews on it but for those complaining about not creating playlists easily on the player (I agree) I found this was the easiest way to create them and transfer into the player. That is the only thing about CC that I found usefull. Creating a playlist with the touchscreen and the users guide instructions were confusing and after 2 hours of trying to create a playlist I accidently removed all of the music from the player that I transfered which was frustrating. The volume control and I found several ways to turn the volume up or down while in now playing mode, it is simple and I found navigation on the player easy.
I downloaded the firmware updates and calibrated the touchscreen a few times and it is working like a charm. This is also my first experience with a touchscreen and it is fairly responsive and like most touchscreens I've messed around with if you hit it while scrolling the wrong way you find yourself opening a folder you didn't intend to open but I am certain that I will adjust to it and it dosen't bother me.
The earbuds are awsome and they are being broken in and they already sound awsome, I was using a nice pair of Koss noise reduction buds but these are more comfortable in my ears, I must have really small ear canals or something because these are the first ones that I can keep in my ears for hours and be pain free! I wish the chord were a little longer but again not a big deal.
I don't like that I can not listen to music on the player when it is charging via USB, pretty shifty of Creative to try to make you buy their wall adapter, I intend to shop elswhere for one based on principal. The 3" USB adapter is a bit cheap and ridiculous as well, way too short. Based on the reviews this shouldn't be much of an issue, I won't need to charge it too often if other reviews are accurate on battery life.
I knew all of the software issues so I was prepared for that and I read tons of reviews and the product description so I knew this was a perfect choice for me, it was between this player and the Creative Zen X-Fi with wireless lan which seemed fairly useless to me. I chose this player because of the sound reviews and the other is no longer being manufactured and that means no driver or software updates on that model. Glad I purchased when I did, the price went up since ordering earlier this week.
I am happy with it so far, the pros outway the cons, nothing is perfect but this is close to it as you can get, imo.

I have had many creative players. I keep upgrading. After years of faithful service my Zen Sleek finally quit. So, I bought the xfi2. I could really care less about anything but the music capabilities. I have over 5000 songs. So, to my horror, I found this thing is not designed to play music. period.
You can't just click play on a playlist. You have to:
Click on Music, now playing, menu, scroll to remove all, click remove all, Yes, Back, Playlists, click the new playlist, wait for it to list all 3000 songs in that playlist, Click menu, add all, Yes, Back, Back, Now playing, ...Play.
Are you kidding me? No. 16 clicks!
Volume buttons on the side of the unit seems like a must, but they opted to use the touch screen. I can't move the little dot just one level. So, I just have to live with whatever volume I end up with after trying a few times.
The shuffle function is a joke. It will shuffle the songs in exactly the same order every time. So, if you switch between playlists you'll have to listen to the same songs every time. I listen for eight hours a day and have to either hit forward hundreds of times or listen to the same 100 songs in my list of 3000 songs.
So, whatever you do, don't buy this as an mp3 player. It was designed for other purposes I guess.
