Great for cold climates only,
by -=-=-=-=-=-, 2010-07-25
I bought this over the winter for my I-pod touch and it worked great. However when spring hit and the temps went up i noticed that the adhesive would come undone from the disk thing you attach the suction cup to, not my dashboard mind you but the disk it was attached to at the factory. As it went on to summer i would come back to my car and find the arm assembly on the floor, so i started undoing it before i left the car thinking less weight would keep the adhesive adhered better. it didn't work i just had to find the little plastic disc on the floor rather than the the disk and arm. I have since stooped using using this. I guess that if you live where it is cold year round it would work fine but if it gets warm out where you live buy something else.
Well, I love it!,

I just received this product today. Ordered it on Monday around 1 and got it today (Wednesday) around 2. FAST SHIPPING!
I decided to go with a dashboard mount instead of the windshield mount because I had bad luck with windshield ones, and I'm happy I did! This thing is huge! I tried it out on my Garmin Nuuvi, fits perfectly. Holds my iPhone 4 W/case just amazingly. I wanted something that lets me still use all the buttons and I can charge with my car charger also. This thing does all! One thing that I didn't know is the swivel piece (the piece that holds the device) it's directional so if you need it facing you or ANY direction. I even did a small video front and rear facing camera with the iPhone 4 just for fun. I've only had this product for a couple hours but I tested it on the highway and a few small dirt roads, it passed. Later, I'll be heading into town and we have construction from here to town so I'll see how it holds up with a few bumps.
VERY happy with this! I HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who needs to hold a phone or a GPS unit!
UPDATE: Had this thing for a few days now and went threw construction roads and a few dirt roads and it's still in it's place! It's really steardy for iPod controls with my iPhone 4. I also like that you can make road videos front facing and rear facing camera with no obstructions! I will update once it falls off. :) Possibly a video on how steardy it is on the road.
Excellent and Versatile for the Money,

We needed something that we could mount permanently in the difficult to mount Audi TT as the units that mount on the glass are too far away to see the small iphone screen and there is nothing else that the suction cup can mount to. With the little adhesive mounted pad I was able to mount it on the dash in the ideal location. We also travel a lot and use different rental cars. With the neat reversable arm the unit is versatile to work well in any vehicle.
The only possible downside is that it is plastic and may not last forever, but for the price it is 5 star value and if it does break one day I'll buy another.
Cool But Useless,

It's come off the dash of my Focus twice in two hours. Apparently it works for some people. Not for me.
Worth the money - I'm about to order a second one,

I ordered this last December when I bought the Navigon GPS navigation app with some Christmas money. In my opinion, it has been a good purchase. I use the suction cup and stick it to the windshield rather than using the sticky stuff to put it on the dash. This way we can easily move the mount from one car to another. Despite being taken down and reattached several times, the suction is still very strong and the unit has not fallen down yet.
THE GOOD STUFF:
1. Phones with cases will fit just fine. I'm not sure about something as bulky as the Otterbox cases, but I do think those will fit too.
2. The suction cup is easy to take off and reattach, and it holds very strong despite hot temperatures (I'm in Alabama and haven't had any problems). I'm not sure how extreme cold would affect it. We got down to the 20s (farenheit) last winter and I didn't have any problems then either.
3. It works.
THE BAD STUFF:
1. One of the little foot things at the bottom of the unit broke off in the first couple of weeks, but that may hav been my fault. It really doesn't matter because it's the side clamps that hold the phone in place. I was also able to superglue it back into place and it hasn't broken off again yet.
2. The release button is hard to get to because it's on the back of the unit.
3. When the phone is in the unit the release button is hard to push. I have to use one hand to squeeze the side clamps closer together and then push the button with the other hand.
GOOD AND BAD AT THE SAME TIME:
1. The arm in the unit is not flexible, which I imagine reduces shaking - although on bumpy roads and bad interstates the unit still bounces some. Because the arm doesn't flex any there are two adjustment knobs. The good thing about this is that you can really tighten the knobs to hold it in place unlike a unit with a flexible shaft. The bad thing is that this means you cannot quickly adjust the unit while driving unless you want to be one of THOSE drivers.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Use the suction cup. I haven't tested the sticky pad thing, but I would think that in the summer heat the adhesive would melt and the unit would fall off the dash. Also, the unit cannot be easily moved from one car to another if you stick it to the dash.
2. Get a long car charger for your phone. I have a griffin charger that I believe was designed for iPods (not iPhones) and it has a short, coiled cord. When I have my phone in the window mount and it is plugged in, the tension from the coiled charger cord often twists the mount down some.
