I really liked ,this. The sound was good. But today I went to use it and while the zune is ok, and it plays, there is no sound. The kicker has electricity, I can change volume ect, but there is no sound. The speakers did not pop or crackle or anything, it was playing a song and then....no more sound. Any thoughts? Is it dead? Seems to be. The Zune works with my headset, but no longer with this speaker.

 

Great Sound But Has Issues,

Cons: Two separate units have totally erased my Zune and the handle could be designed a little better.

I purchased the Kicker about two months ago after a lot of research and reading of reviews. As there are not a whole lot of options for the Zune I took the chance that maybe a few indivuals had the misfortune of receiving bad units. Initially everything was great and I fell in love with it right away. The first time I used it for an extended period of time though (approximately 3 hours), it quit playing and right away I knew it had erased the contents of my player. I returned the unit and asked for a replacement from Amazon (which was really quick and easy). I received the new Kicker in no time at all and I promptly tested it for another extended time and had the zune erased once again. I have returned the Kicker, but this time I'm getting a refund. It's a shame though, the sound is awesome and I really hated to get rid of it; but the nuisance of having to re-load my Zune everytime is getting the best of me. If anyone knows of an equally great sounding dock without the hassles I'd love to hear about it.

There are not many options for Zune users. I did quite a bit of research on several sites before purchasing the ZK500. Set up was easy and the sound is incredible. I purchased it for a deck party and the sound was MORE than powerful enough. There's good bass and treble, and both can be adjusted. I have the 80 mb Zune and that zune sits in the cradle just fine. It comes with three cradle pads to nestle your Zune and should fit most. It looks like something Batman would have but that does give it an attractive feel when it's shelved.

Cons
No batteries!
No place to store the remote when done
Limited sound adjustment functionality - treble and bass is it - no midrange.
Zune reboots when you place it in the cradle.

All things considered, it's a great sound box for your Zune. I will warn you that the Zune appears to always reboot when you place it in the radio cradle so I recommend placing it in the cradle with both the radio and Zune off. Other than that, it's worth it. Great buy.

The Kicker ZK50 Zune speaker dock does perform as advertised -- and does it pretty well, many of its attributes are worthy of 4 star ratings individually. So why the overall 3 star rating? Rating 4 stars for portability or ease of use is a good thing However, the most important reason for purchasing this or similar equipment in my opinion is the quality of the sound -- which in the case of this Kicker is only fair to middling at best -- thus 3 stars overall rating. I now realize that a small set of Aztec (or any number of similar)speakers used with a separate, very simple and inexpensive Zune dock station actually sounds much better.
